This really is a concert to bring all your friends, family and neighbours to! Crowd-pleasers include Mozart's A Little Night Music and Sarasate's Gypsy Airs, which will have you out of your seat! Be transported by the world premiere of Blue Mountains composer David Scheel's melodious String Quartet. The young-at-heart will love Peter and the Wolf and two other works involving a narrator and animal themes. Actor Tony Cogin will bring the characters to life as well as ensure an element of surprise throughout the concert...

Australia's newest professional chamber orchestra makes its exciting Blackheath debut with a program showcasing the sheer beauty of strings. The all-absorbing dimensions of thirteen players and their incredible energy must be experienced to be believed. The wonderful Tommy Tycho has dedicated his new Violin Concerto to Maria Lindsay. This is a work of depth and virtuosity, framed perfectly by such standards of rich string writing as the Elgar Serenade and a new arrangement of Dvorak's vibrant String Quintet opus 77.

Due to popular demand, the Apollo Trio this year presents two works of undisputed genius which have been enjoyed by generations of listeners since the early 19th century. Of the Mendelssohn Trio op. 49 Schumann wrote: "Mendelssohn is the Mozart of the 19th century, the most illuminating of musicians." Beethoven's Trio dedicated to Archduke Rudolph remains one of the most popular pieces of chamber music still performed today. We are delighted to present the world premiere of an exciting new piece by talented Australian composer James Cuddeford.
