Please join us to share in the wonderful music of Haydn, Frank Martin, Dulcie Holland, and the immortal Beethoven, performed by the Apollo Trio. Maria Lindsay on violin, Thomas Tsai on cello, and Daniel Herscovitch on the piano, are sure to capture you with their moving renditions.

Artist biographies

Maria Lindsay (violin)
Maria Lindsay graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and has held positions with the Sydney Sympony and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. She has toured extensively in Australia and overseas. Maria has appeared as guest concertmaster a soloist with several Sydney orchestras. She is a founding member of the Linday trio and the Apollo Trio, with whom she performs in Sydney and regional NSW. She has performed as soloist and member of the Trio Australia and has performed contemporary chamber music with Klangforum Vienna and the Seymour Group Sydney. She initiated the Blackheath House Concert Series, of which she is Artistic Director. (Read full biography.)

Thomas Tsai (cello)
Thomas Tsai studied with Georg Pedersen at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he completed his DSCM , majoring in cello. Following graduation, he was awarded various scholarships for overseas studies. Since commencing his professional career, Thomas has worked with the Glendale Symphony Orchestra (Los Angeles), Japan-American Symphony Orchestra, and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. He has also performed many solo and chamber music recitals since returning to Australia in 1995, and has recorded for the ABC Classic FM and 2MBSFM radio stations. He plays a 1690 Giovanni Grancino and a 1934 AE. Smith. Thomas is very active performing in Sydney and teaches at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Barker College.

Daniel Herscovitch (piano)
Melbourne-born pianist Daniel Herscovitch studied with Alexander Sverjensky at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and later under Rosl Schmid in Munich. Since returning to Australia he has been active in both solo and chamber music, and has appeared at the Adelaide Festival of the Arts, the Mostly Mozart Festival, the New Directions Festival and the Festivals of Melbourne and Sydney. He has toured for Musica Viva and his recent New Zealand tour included performances at the Bay of Islands Festival. Since 1996 he has been lecturer in piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and his recordings of repertoire ranging from Mozart to Smalley have been released on Tall Poppies, CSM, Continuum and ABC Classics labels.
