Angela LindsayAllow me to introduce myself, or reintroduce myself, in this case. I have had the pleasure of meeting so many of you before in another capacity; that of the honour of performing for you with my sisters, Maria and Margaret as The Lindsay Trio, at Werona. So with that, I am very excited and proud to be bringing you all the news and events of BMCCI.
Happy reading!

Sunday 20 April:  Four Seasons -
New Sydney Wind Quintet

It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome back this energetic ensemble of such high acclaim. Founded by world-class flautist, Bridget Bolliger, they are joined for this performance by bassoonist, Matthew Ockenden of the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. The quintet themselves are certainly anticipating their coming performance: “Our experience in Blackheath in 2006 was a beautifully satisfying one from our point of view; the audience was so warm and inviting,” says Bridget Bolliger. “The Uniting Church is the perfect chamber music venue. The whole experience... Gemutlich!!!
The NSWQ will perform works by Australia’s own Percy Grainger, the 19th century Italian Flute virtuoso, Giulio Briccialdi and 20th century French master, Jean Françaix. The program also features a work by the Argentinean bandoneonist and composer, Astor Piazzolla. Renowned for revolutionising the Tango worldwide, he introduced it to the concert stage, incorporating classical and jazz elements with intriguing instrumentation. To reserve your seat now, call 1300 306 776 or visit www.chamberconcert.org.au. There will be one concert only at the Uniting Church, Blackheath.

Volunteers, Please!
Marie Jefferys has worked tirelessly in so many capacities and, sadly for BMCCI, is resigning from her posts. As vice-president she also took on the roles of co-ordinating the volunteers and sponsor relations as well as taking care of brochure distribution. Also, Margaret Marsh, BBC, (Biscuit Brigade Co-ordinator) is stepping down. Her post will need to be covered for the three concerts at Werona in the second half of the year. There’s no need for a BBC at the Uniting Church. Warmest thanks, Marie and Margaret, for all your invaluable efforts.
These vacancies will need to be filled ASAP, probably with more than two people. Volunteers find it very rewarding to contribute to Blackheath’s community culture. If you feel you can offer some service, please call Thomas on 0427 012 549.

Utopia – Song Company
We are very proud to present this illustrious vocal ensemble on Sunday 4 May, 2.30pm at Uniting Church, Blackheath. Their program will include works by Hildegard von Bingen, JS Bach, Nigel Butterley, Terry Riley and John Lennon. Remember, there’s only one performance so be sure to book soon!
U-topia or eu-topia: a good place or a place of nothingness. Utopia is The Song Company's special take on imperfection and its impossibility! "Becoming immersed in the harmonic ecstasy of Butterley and the trance inducing IN C by Riley will shake us away from our earthly coil into the heady fantasies of idealism. Old music and new music are twins sisters in this sound-world!”  Ruth Kilpatrick, Soprano

Baroque Brilliance – The Audience’s Voice
It is reported that the concert in March was a resounding success and what a particularly apt combination of instruments for the acoustic of the church. The afternoon tea was also immensely satisfying. Thank you to the Uniting Church for their hospitality! If you would like your concert comments included in a newsletter, please email us at mail@chamberconcert.org.au. Your thoughts may be quoted! (Unless you wish not)
